Venus of Willendorf, 2020
5 feet X 3 feet
Paper cut painted with oils
This paper cut is a representation of the Venus of Willendorf - a figurine measuring 4.4 inches carved out of limestone that was made around 30,000 BCE (the Paleolithic era or the Stone Age)in lower Austria.
The cuttings have been derived from traditional folk patterns from South Asia. The patterns further evoke the feminine and the divine in the female figure.
