Through generous grants from the Ontario and Toronto Arts Councils I was able to collect family photographs that span multiple generations. These images were collected Calgary, Canada, Karachi,Pakistan and in Lucknow, India. The large photographs are of my great grand father's house in Lucknow, India. My father took the photos when he visited in 1988. It was the first time he had been to the city of his birth since he was 13. The images tell a story of family ties that span generations and borders.
On the ground are silk fleece, silk threads and red pigments - the basic elements of creating a fabric. These are symbolic of a fragmented cloth and a fragmented story.
